Our History
In 1920 two brothers, Brooke and Blair Lee, and their friend, Harold Harvey started investing in property. In 1989, their companies were consolidated into what is today’s Lee Development Group or LDG INC.
Lee Development Group develops for the long term, investing in assets benefiting the extended families of its three founders. Family members from the 3rd and 4th generations are now in LDG INC. leadership positions. Being a family business makes us think differently because we think in terms of future generations. For us, tomorrow is as important as today and we know that the success of our family business depends on how we treat you today!
What we do
Lee Development Group develops, leases and markets a variety of properties. Including commercial office, retail, flex buildings, warehouses, industrial lots and self-storage facilities. Our properties are located in Silver Spring, Aspen Hill, Kensington, Mount Airy and the city of Frederick. Our headquarters are located in the heart of Silver Spring’s central business district.
LDG INC. has brought its expertise to public-private partnerships. To name one, a partnership between the state of Maryland, Montgomery County and Lee Development Group brought the Fillmore Music Hall to Silver Spring, bringing new life and business to the downtown area.
In 2017, LDG INC. and the Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission received approvals for the Elizabeth Square project. The first phase is Elizabeth House III, senior affordable housing, which replaces the current Elizabeth House. Elizabeth House III will contain 267 dwelling units of senior housing in 261,852 sf of residential space in a 16-story building. Also part of the first phase is a publicly owned and operated 133,000 sf South County Regional Recreation and Aquatic Facility and a 7,342 sf Senior Wellness Center through a partnership with Holy Cross Hospital.
